Residents at the newly-opened Springbank care home in Silsden, West Yorkshire, recently enjoyed a visit this week from members of the team at Deliver Net, who are completing a cycling challenge for charity.

Members of ‘Team Deliver Net’ are attempting to cycle 300 miles to raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK and are clocking up the miles on road bikes and static exercise bikes.

‘Pedalling a good cause’

Deliver Net interior designer and cycling team member, Julie Cawood, “This is a cause we’re all really passionate about, not least because many of the 1,200 care homes we supply provide specialist dementia care. The reality is that 1 in 3 of us will go on to develop one form of dementia. We’re doing what we can to change that.”

Springbank owner, Steven Spellman added “It’s been really enjoyable for the residents to cheer on a cycling session and we’re delighted to sponsor the Deliver Net team challenge.”

Originally built in 1875, Springbank has been lovingly restored and modernised over the past 2 years, including a range of soft furnishings supplied by Deliver Net and can now accommodate 41 residents in high quality surroundings, which still maintain many stunning original features.

Company News, Dementia Care
The Deliver Net team is donning the lycra and attempting a mammoth 300mile cycle ride to raise much-needed funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

‘Team Deliver Net’ is aiming to complete the challenge by the end of January and will be covering the miles on road bikes or static exercise bikes, very kindly provided by Grand Fitness Skipton.

Sadly, dementia care is woefully under-funded and our understanding of the condition, and its treatment, barely scratches the surface.

The reality is the one in three of us will go on to develop one form of dementia.

Most of us will have close friends or relatives who are either living with dementia themselves or may be caring for someone.

As well affecting many of us personally, dementia care is also a real and daily challenge for many of our clients. We hope that our fundraising efforts will make a small but important difference in eventually finding a cure for this often devastating condition.

If you’d like to get behind Team Deliver Net, please visit the link below to see our progress and make a donation, however small. We’d also love it if you could provide us with some extra motivation by liking and sharing our updates on social media.

Please donate as much as food and daily living essentials as you can to your nearest food bank.

We, here at #DeliverNet, have donated essentials to the Skipton Food Bank at the Skipton Baptist Church.

Anything you can donate will go a long way, it means a great deal for families who are struggling to make ends meet.

The demand for essentials is a lot greater at this time of year, please help them to help others.

You can drop items off at several locations in the local area as highlighted in the video.

The Deliver Net team once again exhibited at the Scottish Care Conference in Glasgow on 17th November at the Hilton hotel.

With a fantastic list of speakers and workshops, it was no surprise to see a record attendance – with over 450 delegates and over 70 exhibitors.

Our two stands, focussing on our dementia care and activities range, along with our hugely popular interior design service, were extremely busy. The event offered a great opportunity to catch up with some of our Scotland-based customers, as well as meeting new ones.

Last year, our innovative range of empathy dolls for dementia care were a huge hit with delegates. This year, we chose to give a special sneak-peek of our interactive pet range, which is due to be ready for sale early next year. As you can see in the video above, it’s fair to say the dog and cat we brought along were the talk of the day!

Did you manage to get to the event? Did you see our furry friends? If you’d like to register your interest in them, or discuss a bespoke range of activities for your home, call us today!

This new position is an indication of exciting times ahead with the Deliver Net Group. Not only does this position allow more input into sourcing and developing our ever increasing range of Dementia products, but more importantly, visiting Care Homes and Care Home groups to build close working relationships and understand how I can support them in ultimately enhancing their residents’ well-being. The ability to demonstrate face to face, the use of appropriate & effective dementia-friendly activity, signage and orientation products within care environments cannot be underestimated and to offer our customers this opportunity will be fantastic. We’d like Care Home Managers, Activity Co-ordinators or Care Staff to get in touch and Chris will be delighted to arrange a phone call to ideally arrange an on-site visit to establish what support he can offer.

Despite the tragic events at the Manchester Arena earlier this week, the Great Manchester Run organisers have decided to continue the event as planned, this coming Sunday.

I will be proudly running (or should that be hobbling!) in support of Alzheimer’s Society. Dementia research is desperately underfunded and this cruel, indiscriminate illness has a huge impact on the lives of many of the elderly people our industry ultimately serves.

Alzheimer’s Society carry out innovative research projects that help improve care for people living with dementia today, whilst also working to find a cure for tomorrow.

I’d like to ask our partners, suppliers and customers for any contribution you feel you, or your businesses, can make.

We’d also like to highlight your support to our followers on our social media pages. Just click here to donate via JustGiving.

Thank you for your support.
